Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Friday reviewed Indo-Iran bilateral relationship with Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, Majid Takht Ravanchi. Their discussion included topics like Chabahar Port, agricultural cooperation, trade and economic issues, as well as cultural and people-to-people ties.
Ravanchi also met Jaishankar, who posted on X, “Received Deputy FM @TakhtRavanchi of Iran this evening. Discussed our bilateral ties, progress in Chabahar port and regional developments. Confident that the Foreign Office Consultations will give momentum to our partnership.”
A statement by the Ministry of External Affairs said that the 19th India-Iran Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) were held in New Delhi between Foreign Secretary Misri and Majid Takht Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“Discussions also covered current regional and global developments, (including the situation in Afghanistan, West Asia, and the South Caucasus),” said the statement.
Foreign Secretary Misri highlighted the “significance of Chabahar Port in supporting Afghanistan’s reconstruction and economic development”.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to deepen cooperation in multilateral fora, including the UN, BRICS, and SCO, it said.
During his meeting with Jaishankar, “bilateral matters and current regional challenges” were discussed, said the statement.
Both sides agreed to continue the momentum of high-level exchanges to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, it said.
