The Pimpri Chinchwad police have lodged an offence against family members of a minor girl and a man for allegedly arranging their marriage at Alandi.

Milind Waghmare, the Child Marriage Prohibition Officer (CMPO), Parbhani, has lodged the first information report (FIR) in this case.

As per the FIR, the marriage of a 17-year-old girl took place at a marriage hall on Wadgaon Road in Alandi on November 21, 2024. The minor girl got married to a man from Parbhani.

After finding out about the marriage, Waghmare lodged an FIR at a police station in Parbhani district. The case was later transferred to the Alandi police station of Pimpri Chinchwad police.

As per the press release issued Saturday, police have booked family members of both the bride and groom, as well as the managers and staff of the marriage hall in Alandi, under sections of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act of 2006.

Police sub inspector Tukaram Khadke of the Alandi police station said that a probe has been initiated in this case.
