Actor-filmmaker Kangana Ranaut recently hosted the first special screening of her film Emergency in Nagpur. The screening was graced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who lauded Kangana and the entire team for making a movie on “India’s dark chapter with so much authenticity and excellence.” During the event, Kangana also revisited the challenges she faced in getting her film certified by the CBFC.

In a video shared by PTI, Kangana Ranaut said, “Today, we are having the first screening of the film. Before this, no one has seen the film. The censor board was extremely strict, and they conducted thorough scrutiny. We had to provide so much proof and documentation. After six months of struggle, the film is finally ready.” She also went on to praise Nitin Gadkari for supporting her film. In the video, the Union Minister said, “I am watching the film for the first time, and I have witnessed Emergency in the country. The true history of Emergency that Kangana ji has presented in front of the public today is correct. I am fully confident that this film will receive support from the public as well.”

Taking to Instagram, Nitin Gadkari further praised Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency and wrote, “Joined the special screening of the movie Emergency, featuring Kangana Ranaut Ji and Shri Anupam Kher Ji, in Nagpur today. I wholeheartedly thank the filmmakers and actors for presenting the dark chapter of our nation’s history with such authenticity and excellence. I urge everyone to watch this film, which portrays a significant period in India’s history.”
Kangana’s co-star Anupam Kher had also joined her for this special screening in Nagpur.

Emergency will have its theatrical release on January 17. The film also stars the late Satish Kaushik, Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman, and Mahima Choudhary, among others. Kangana Ranaut will be seen essaying the role of the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the movie.
