A 28-year-old man was killed in a collision early Saturday morning on Ring Road opposite the World Trade Center in Southwest Delhi after an Audi car jumped the road divider and crashed into his Ertiga. The accident occurred at around 6.30 am, and the Audi’s driver fled the scene immediately after the crash, said the police.
The victim, identified as Sukhjit, a resident of Hisar in Haryana, was travelling from Dhaula Kuan towards South Extension when the Audi, coming from the opposite direction, veered off course, crossing the divider, and collided head-on with Sukhjit’s vehicle. An ambulance rushed Sukhjit to AIIMS Trauma Centre, but he was declared dead upon arrival, said the police.
The police registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (death by negligence), and an investigation was underway to identify and apprehend the absconding driver. According to the police, authorities were reviewing CCTV footage and other available evidence from the vicinity to reconstruct the sequence of events and track down the perpetrator.
