In a recent podcast with Joe Roegan, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that Apple hasn’t “invented anything great in a while. The billionaire went on to say that after Steve Jobs unveiled the first iPhone back in 2007, Apple has been “kind of sitting on it ” for about 20 years.

Zuckerberg made the statements in a nearly three-hour-long podcast, where he also touched upon other topics like Meta’s recent moderation policy changes, the Trump administration and Apple’s lack of innovation in the last few years.

For those who have been following Mark Zuckerberg, this may not come as a surprise as he has been an outspoken critic of Apple’s App Store policies and privacy protections. During the podcast, the Meta CEO also said that year-over-year, he isn’t sure that Apple has been selling more iPhones and that the tech giant’s “sales might actually be declining.”

Zuckerberg also claimed to cover up the declining iPhone sales figures, the company is levying its 30 per cent tax on developers. The multi-billionaire also commented on AirPods and said that by restricting access to their proprietary technology, “they’ve just thoroughly hamstrung the ability for anyone else to build something that can connect to the iPhone in the same way.”

Commenting on Apple’s expensive augmented reality headset – the Vision Pro, Zuckerberg said that the $3,500 headset “is worse than the thing that we shipped for $300 or $400.” However, he also said that Apple is a “good technology company” and that their second or third-generation headsets will be better than the first-generation products.

While Mark Zuckerberg has bashed Apple for not inventing anything great since the iPhone, it should be noted that Meta itself hasn’t invested anything but expanded its market share by acquiring services and companies like WhatsApp, Instagram and Oculus to name a few.

To give you a quick recap, Facebook had tried to enter the smartphone market back in 2011 by launching its very own phone – HTC Chacha, it failed to gain popularity and has given up on the idea since then.
